Citizenship Appeals
If a person’s Canadian Citizenship appeal is refused then it is possible to apply to the Federal Court of Canada within 30 days of getting the refusal, for a judicial review.
What are the requirements for Canadian Citizenship?
In order to apply for Canadian Citizenship the following conditions need to be met:
- The person should be 18 years or older.
- The person should be a Permanent Resident for 4 years before the date of Citizenship application and should have been residing in Canada for at least three years.
- The person should be having adequate knowledge of either English or French.
How to file a Citizenship Appeal?
When the application for Citizenship is refused then the person can appeal at the Federal Court of Canada within 30 days of getting the letter of refusal. The person would need to fill out a Notice of Application to the Federal Court.
Depending on the reasons why the Citizenship application was refused, filling out a new application is a good option. One needs to make sure that one meets all the requirements for Citizenship before filling out the application. There is no wait time to fill out a new application after the previous application was refused.
