Resumption of Citizenship
The Canadian Citizenship Act states that resumption applicants are required to have been physically present in Canada for a minimum of 365 days during the two years immediately prior to the date of their application.
Residence/physical presence is calculated based on when the individual’s application was received by Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). How residence/physical presence is calculated.
The purpose of the residence/physical presence requirement is to ensure that an individual applying for Canadian citizenship has in fact had enough time to integrate into Canadian society before they apply.
