Protected Person Inadmissibility

Protected Persons need to undergo medical and security clearance when they apply for Permanent Residence. Medical needs to be conducted so that underlying issues can be identified and treated. They are not inadmissible on the basis of putting excessive demand on the healthcare and social services in Canada. Security clearance and PCC is required to ensure that the person is not inadmissible on the basis of criminal inadmissibility. PCC is required from all the countries where the person has stayed for more than 6 months, since the age of 18. But a PCC is not required from the country from which the person is seeking protection.

If an applicant is inadmissible on the basis of serious criminality, security and medical grounds then the application would be refused. If a family member is inadmissible then it does not affect the applicant and rest of the family members, they can be granted Permanent Residence.

What is a TRP?

TRP is a document that helps a person to overcome his inadmissibility and come to Canada for a specific reason. The applicant must be able to justify their reason to enter Canada. The officer would then consider the reason and make sure that the person is not a security or health threat to Canada, and then issue a TRP for a specific time period.
