Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program

The Business Investor Stream of Manitoba helps the province to nominate and bring in entrepreneurs from around the world who are willing to establish a business in Manitoba. 

It is possible to immigrate to Manitoba under the following business streams:

  • Entrepreneur Pathway
  • Farm Investor Pathway

Entrepreneur Pathway

The person needs to have a net worth of at least $500,000, have at least three years of experience as a business owner or senior manager, invest at least $250,000 in Manitoba Capital Region ($150,000 outside Manitoba Capital Region) and create at least one full time job opportunity for a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.

What are the basic eligibility criterias for this stream?

  • Within the last five years the person needs to have at least three years of experience as a business owner or as a senior manager. 
  • The person needs to have a net worth of at least $500,000.
  • The person should have at least Canadian high school certificate or equivalent. 
  • The person needs to invest at least $250,000 to establish a new business or to purchase/improve an existing business if it is situated in the Manitoba Capital Region. Invest at least $150,000 if the business is outside the Manitoba Capital Region. The person should have at least 33.3% ownership of the business. 
  • Create at least one full time job opportunity for a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
  • Obtain a minimum CLB 5 in either English or French.
  • The person should have legal status in Canada or should be eligible to get one in the future.
  • The person should be legally residing in the country where they are currently present. 

What are the steps to apply for this stream?

  • The candidate needs to self assess their eligibility. They should research about the province and business opportunities there. 
  • A business plan needs to be made after conducting research. It is a very important part of the application. The candidates are also encouraged to visit Manitoba for exploring business opportunities. 
  • The candidate then needs to submit the self assessment form and business concept form while submitting their Expression of Interest to MPNP.
  • The candidate will then receive a letter of advice to apply and then will need to submit the full application.
  • The application will then be assessed by MPNP. they may also invite you for an interview.
  • Once the assessment is complete then they would email an approval letter. The candidate then needs to sign a Business Performance Agreement before getting the letter for supporting work permit application.
  • When the candidate gets a work permit then they can come to Manitoba and open their business. 
  • After the requirements of the Business Performance Plan are met, MPNP will issue a nomination and the person can file for Permanent Residence. 

Farmer Investor Pathway

This pathway is for individuals who have farm management experience, who have sufficient capital for investment and who wish to establish and operate a farm in rural Manitoba. 

The person needs to have a net worth of at least $500,000, have at least three years of experience as a farm owner or in farm operations, and invest at least $300,000 in rural Manitoba.

What are the basic eligibility criterias for this stream?

  • The person needs to have 3 years of experience as a farm owner and in farm operations. 
  • The person may be invited for an interview and it would be conducted in either French or English. 
  • The person needs to have a net worth of at least $500,000.
  • The person needs to invest at least $300,000 to establish a farming business in rural Manitoba. The investment can be in the form of eligible tangible assets as defined by MPNP. 
  • A business plan needs to be made and is a very important part of the application. 
  • The person needs to make a visit to Manitoba to research farm business.
  • Once the business is established then it should be able to generate revenue and should be recurring in nature. 
  • When the application is approved then the candidate will need to sign a Business Performance Agreement before a letter to support work permit application can be made.
